So far the Stuart family begins with George Stuart.
George was a sailor and it is believed by my family that he was born in Scotland and sailed his own ship onto New South Wales shores. He married Mary Daley under a bann of marriage on the 1st of November 1847 at St. Andrew's Scots Church, NSW. As yet both George and Mary's birth or death dates are unknown but we do know is that on 6th of April 1849 their only son came into the world and like Stuart tradition they called him George.
Young George lived around the country towns of Red Bank (now known as Mathoura), Coolah, Cassilis, Coonamble and Dubbo, where he worked as a labourer. On the 5 May 1876 in Cobbora George married a woman called Sarah Magick. Together they had four children: Grace Catherine (born 1891 in Coonabarabran), Bridget Ann (born 1889 in Dubbo) Mary Ethelinda (born 1883 in Dubbo) and finally his first born child and only son: George Henry Stuart. On the 26th of September 1936 George died of a heart attack in Coolah.
George Henry Stuart was born in 1876 in Dubbo. He lived a long prospers life, working as a Drover and moving around the towns of Dubbo, Gilgandra, Rylstone, Cassilis and Coonamble. George was also a talented dog trainer. He married a woman called Agnes Elizabeth Garbutt. He passed away in 1946 in Liverpool, NSW and is buried in Rookwood Cemetery.
George and Agnes had eight children: Leslie James (b. 1900 Coonamble), Arthur Edward (b. 1910 Coonamble), Gordon Charles (b. 1906 Coonamble), Grace E. (b. 1903 Coonamble d. 1904), Martha (b.1901 Cassilis), Ethel May (b. 1907 NSW), Jim M. (b. 1912 Gilgandra d. 1912) and my grandfather, George Henry Stuart.
George Henry Stuart (2nd) was born on 26th of February 1905 in Dubbo. He married my grandmother, Lillian May Gundry on the 28th January 1928. George passed away on the 17th August 1965 in Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. He left behind his five children: Clarice Ethyl May, June Isabelle Lucy, Margaret Ellenor Louise, William Oliver Gundry (my handsome father) and Robert Frederick.
